Barack Obama | photo: Elective Decisions

Tomorrow is going to be a historic day in this country. Not just because it's a Presidential election, but because no matter what happens tomorrow in January we will have a first. We will either be swearing in our first black President or our first female Vice President.

This is the stuff that takes up chapters in history books and gets tussled over for weeks in civics classes.

I am going on record that I'm voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. It's not because he's black, or because he played basketball, or even because he's a democrat. It's nothing overtly trivial. I'm voting for Obama/Biden for two reasons:

1. He's a leader. He presents himself as a leader, and he's a man that is confident enough that if he starts walking, people will follow. George W Bush is so disgustingly out of his depth as a leader I almost feel bad for him. President Bush is a miserable leader. And John McCain, I'm afraid, isn't a leader either.

2. McCain/Palin are campaigning on the words "Change" and "Experience". Well, let's talk about that "change", is the change coming from the guy who's agreed with the Bush Administration 90% of the time? The guy who has no fundamental differences in opinion with the current regime? And the "experience", is that coming from the woman who's barely left the state of Alaska?

I want to lay down a few facts for you.
1. John McCain graduated around 5th from the bottom of a 500+ recruit class at the Naval Academy.
2. He was shot down in Vietnam more than once by a guerrilla army throwing sticks and sharp words at him half the time.
3. Barack Obama was the valedictorian of his class.
4. He was the editor of the Harvard Law Review.

The Presidency is about policy. It's about knowing law, understanding how law works, and getting people to agree with you and shape law to relate to your view for the country. Who better than a former editor of one of the most prestigious legal publications in the country?

If you vote for McCain/Palin, please do so with confidence that they will do what's best for you. Don't vote for them because you think Obama's going to take a lot of money away from rich people (which I don't morally oppose). Vote with your heart and your memory.

I trust that tomorrow when you - the American readers, that is - get behind the curtain, you'll do the right thing. But whichever lever you pull, pull it with conviction of action. Do it knowing that the simple action will pull this country off the brink of total collapse.

End civics lesson. We'll return you to your regularly scheduled edition of the Skip Pass sometime tomorrow morning.

Sleep tight, America. Tomorrow you've got a big day.
