Four NBL games after the jump...

Tigers v Crocodiles | photo: NBL

Melbourne Tigers 110 (Ere 32, Anstey 29, Barlow 13)
Townsville Crocodiles 97 (Williams 21, Rillie 18, Robertson 17)
Arena: State Netball and Hockey Centre, Melbourne (AUS) | Attendance: 2,780

It's raining in Townsville, John Rillie's drought is over. Our friendly neighborhood Gonzaga grad was able to take the lid off the bucket and hit a strong 8 of 14 (2 of 6 from behind the arc) for 18 points with 4 assists in his best night of the season. His backcourt mate Corey Williams chased his 35 points against Sydney with 21 points against Melbourne. But I'm sure both of Townsville's guards would trade their point tallies for a win over the Tigers. Melbourne's MVP duo of Ebi Ere and Chris Anstey paird up for 61 points and Anstey took control of the glass, grabbing 16 rebounds (almost half of Townsville's total).

South Dragons 94 (Darden 19, Burston 16, Groves & Carter 14)
Cairns Taipans 65 (Abney 14, Cattalini 13, Thomas 11)
Arena: Hisense Arena, Melbourne(AUS) | Crowd: 4,200

South, sitting pretty at the top of the ladder, just beat up on the Taipans, who are not a weak team. Matt Burston was at the head of the class, he paired his 16 points with 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Larry Abbney's 14 point and 10 rebound double-double was about the only bright spot for the Snakes.

Gold Coast Blaze 113 (James Harvey 30, Casey Frank 18, Shane Heal 16)
New Zealand Breakers 116 (Kirk Penney 30, Oscar Forman 24, Phill Jones 18)
Arena: Gold Coast Convention Centre | Attendance: no report

Kirk Penney and the Breakers handed the Blaze their 9th consecutive loss to continue their season of discontent. New Zealand hung 40 on Brandon Joyce's squad in the first quarter, but the Blaze struggled to get back into the game until the final buzzer. Oscar Forman was in the zone, stroking 6-8 from behind the arc and 7-10 from the floor. CJ Bruton got an even dozen of his 17 points from the charity stripe.

Perth Wildcats 104: (Redhage 25, Hinson 21, Kendall 11)
Adelaide 36ers 93: (Schenscher 33, Holmes 16, Bruce 12)
Arena: Distinctive Homes Dome, Perth (AUS) | Crowd: 5,238

Luke Schenscher's 3rd quarter double-double energized a third quarter resurrection for the 36ers, bringing them to 72:64 eight point deficit at the beginning of the 4th quarter. But Shawn Redhage lead the Wildcats to the eventual 104:93 victory. Schenscher finished the night with 33 points and 20 rebounds for the biggest double-double of the NBL season. 11 of his 33 came from the free throw line, while the other 22 came the old fashioned way.

Bonus ball for you. A pair of upsets in the British Basketball League.
Everton Tigers 101 (Smith 32, Midgley 22, Gross 19)
Worcester Wolves 106 (Paez 30, Uzkuraitis 22, Disy 16)
Arena: Greenbank Sports Academy | Attendance: no report

Summary from the BBL:
Worcester Wolves produced the shock of the season so far with a 101-106 victory at league leading Everton Tigers. It was Wolves' first win of the campaign and Tigers' first defeat.

Anthony Paez, who has settled in nicely since returning to Worcester, led all Wolves scorers with 31- points while Everton's Andre Smith continued his own impressive form posting a game-high 32.

Worcester trailed by six heading into the final quarter but a 13-0 burst by the visitors handed them the lead for good, which was sealed from the foul line. The win takes Wolves out of last place.

The match was tight throughout with only three late three-pointers by Tigers breaking a 17-17 tie to give the home side a 26-24 end of first quarter lead. It was Wolves who had the late fireworks in the second quarter as Harry Disy scored all the points in a 9-3 run to end the half 49-54 in the favour of the visitors.

Andre Smith was the star of the third quarter. His 14- points helped Tigers to come back from an eight point deficit (51-59) to lead 80-74 with ten minutes remaining.

An 11-4 start to the final stanza by Wolves handed them the lead for good at 84-85 and they stretched away helped by two three-pointers from Vidmantas Uzkuraitis.

Newcastle Eagles 81 (Moore 22, Defoe 17, Stewart 12)
Sheffield Sharks 86 (Sanders 27, Lawson 19, Gorman 18)
Arena: Newcastle Arena | Attendance: no report

Summary from the BBL:
Newcastle Eagles missed out on the chance to go clear at the top of the BBL as they lost for the first time this season against the in-form Sheffield Sharks 81- 86.

The Sharks resurrected memories of their famed bomb squads of seasons past by hitting 10 of 19 three-pointers. Top scorers Chris Sanders (22-points) and Matt Gorman (19-points) were both perfect from beyond the arc with four and two three-pointers respectively.

Perry Lawson, on his return to Tyneside, scored 17, including three from four treys, as the Sharks made it three consecutives wins in all competitions since losing in their first match against Everton Tigers.

Sharks opened the match with a three-point shot from Gorman and that set the tone for the match. After splitting the first quarter 26-26 Sharks made a late surge to close the half 44-49 in front.

And they maintained an advantage throughout the third period, stretching away to 57-67 before an Eagles fightback led by Lynard Stewart and Trey Moore saw the hosts lead by one until a Chris Sanders three restored Sheffield's lead at 68- 70.

The final quarter swung both ways with Eagles leading 78-77 when two Matt Gorman free throws handed the Sharks the lead for good.

Sheffield player-coach Atiba Lyons was delighted with his team's performance and thought it helped that many of his players are new to the league: "At the moment we're just playing each team as a team rather than on the history of what they've done before.

"We're making big steps every match but we're still gelling so there is more to come. Shooting like we did tonight certainly makes the offence a lot easier."
