NBA
:: Flint Journal: Awkward Interviews: Rodney Stuckey - Stuckey in the '08/9 Pistons:
Things are gonna be the same offensively with stuff like that, but I'll tell you one thing, our defense and defensive standpoint, things are going to be a lot different. We're gonna be picking up full court, trying to get back to our old ways of playing Bad Boys defense. That's something to look forward to this coming year.

NBL
:: Stuff.co.nz: Breakers safe as ANBL targeted - The New Zealand Breakers have been given assurances by Basketball Australia that they will be a part of the new elite basketball competition coming to Australia next year. Breakers' GM Richard Clarke:
I guess there's always a slight danger that being an international team we could be excluded.

But we've talked with Basketball Australia and they give us every assurance that we're seen as a valued part of the league, the same as with the NRL [NZ Warriors] and the A-League [Wellington Phoenix].

It has been a very transparent process. It's about making the game better and the league better.

:: West Australian: Dowdell, Garlepp to feature for Wildcats - Jeff Dowdell and Tom Garlepp took a back seat to Boomer forward and former Singapore Slinger Ben Knight in Perth's season opening match. For Sunday's home opener, Wildcat's boss Nick Marvin said both players will see playing time against the South Dragons. Challenge Stadium is expected to be a sellout for the game.

:: Herald Sun: Brian Goorjian to become record-holder - Brian Goorjian will coach his 700th professional game in Australia this season and put himself amongst the countries' top coaches. The American born coach:
I have a lot of admiration for (AFL coaches) Kevin Sheedy and Mick Malthouse, and while I don't know about Jock McHale, I know about the history.

I love that sport and I think that's one of the things that's kept me energised and ahead in basketball, learning from Australian rules football.

:: Maccabi TA: Maccabi to participate in Gomelsky cup - CSKA Moscow will host EuroLeaguers Maccabi TA, Panathinaikos and Zalgiris in the 2008 Gomelsky Cup. On Monday's first round CSKA will play Zalgiris and Maccabi TA will play Panathinaikos. Winners & losers will pair off in the run-back on Wednesday. Maccabi will be without Marcus Fizer who has been released. A knee injury suffered in last year's EuroLeague campaign has not healed to Maccabi's liking.
